Bedrooms
Softness matters most. Reviews mention upgrading the underlay, and it is worth it here.
Lounges
Look for a carpet that hides marks and keeps its pile. Mid greys and mushroom tones are forgiving.
Stairs and landings
Hard-wearing wins. Plain grey or a striped runner both suit stairs. Fitting takes more time, so it costs more per m².
Hallways
The busiest floor in the house. Choose the tough option and ask about a neat threshold at each door.
